About The Photographs

The photographs on this website are a random selection of images taken over the past 10 years or so and many of them reflect my interest in the natural world and abstract photography. I take photographs of anything I find interesting or beautiful and like to shoot using natural light. I try to get it right in camera and all images shown have had little or no post production work, other than a small tweak to levels, contrast and brightness. I am not interested in spending too much time in front of the computer nor in equipment used but, for any gadget geeks, most photographs are taken with the Canon 5D MkII/III. My usual lenses are the Canon 24-105mm, Canon 70-300mm and Canon 100mm macro, although most of the wildlife images were taken using the Canon 100-400mm. A handful of images are scans from transparencies taken on the Minolta Dynax in the days when I was still working with film. In this age of instant gratification, I still miss the anticipation of the return of transparencies and the thrill of viewing them on a lightbox.

About The Photographer

I was introduced to photography in the 1990s when my husband gave me a Samsung compact camera. I wanted to take more control over the type of images I shot and so progressed to the Minolta Dynax range of SLRs. Aware that my technical knowledge was weak, I completed a home study photography diploma course with honours in 2005, which gave me the knowledge and confidence to start taking photography seriously.

My work has been published in books and magazines worldwide and exhibited in the UK. My commercial work covers editorial, event, fine art and stock photography. Past and present clients include Random House Publishing, Living In Harmony, Glyndon Community Trust and Manning Steel Design. Further examples of my work can be seen at www.alamy.com, www.500px.com, www.ephotozine.com and www.photocrowd.com.

Awards/Exhibitions include:
  • Finalist Wanderlust Travel Photograph of The Year 2005

I made a life changing career move in 2004 from my former work as a lawyer and, aside from photography, work as a part-time gardener and judge and compete at dressage. I live in SE London with my husband and three rescue dogs.
